Screen repair & replacement,
built to hold up to Maui.
Window screens, sliding and hinged screen doors, and security screens — measured, cut, and fabricated in our Kahului shop. Now run by Ben & Betty Hunt, carrying forward a business Maui has trusted for decades.
Rooted in experience.
Built with care.
“Show up, communicate clearly, do the work well, and leave things better than you found them.”
Ben & Betty Hunt, owners
Valley Isle Screen is owned and operated by Ben and Betty Hunt, who bring a hands-on, detail-first approach to every screen and door that comes through the shop. Before taking over Valley Isle Screen, they spent nine years running Pono Window Cleaning — a name rooted in the Hawaiian value of malama pono, to take care and do things right. That same principle carries into the shop today: be reliable, be honest about what a repair needs, and do the job well.
That same standard now carries into every measurement, cut, and re-screen at the shop on Ho’ohana Street.
The shop’s history
Three owners, one craft. Valley Isle Screen has spent decades learning what actually holds up to Maui’s wind, sun, and salt air.
Founded on Alamaha St.
Valley Isle Screen got its start on Alamaha Street, building the reputation for careful, well-fitted screen work that the shop is still known for today.
The move to Ho’ohana St.
Growing demand meant a bigger home. The shop relocated to its current Kahului location, where it still operates today.
Jim takes the helm
Jim purchased the shop and ran it for the next 37 years, sharpening its name for precise measurements, durable materials, and doors that simply fit.
Sharpening & growing
Under new ownership, the shop is being sharpened, reorganized, and grown to meet Maui’s needs today — while holding onto the standards that built its name in the first place.
Our services
Most work happens right here in the shop, so we can measure accurately, choose the right materials, and build something that holds up to Maui’s climate.
Window Screen Repair & Replacement
Re-screening for frames that are still square and sound; replacement when a frame is bent, corroded, or no longer holding tension. Pricing is based on united inches (height plus width) and mesh choice, confirmed once we see it in person.
Sliding Screen Doors
Roller replacement and re-screening for sound frames. When a door is bent or compromised, rebuilding isn’t worth it — instead we measure and build a custom sliding screen door in-shop, with a choice of styles and colors to match your home. Delivery and installation available.
Hinged Screen Doors
Repair and re-screening where the frame and construction allow it; some doors are better off replaced. Send photos and details through our contact form and we’ll help you figure out which one yours needs.
Security Screen Doors
TRU-Frame and TRU-View security screen doors, selected and measured in-shop for proper fit. Installation is coordinated with a qualified subcontractor; some models include insect screening that we fit on-site.
Custom & Specialty Mesh
Non-standard sizes and specialty screening materials, fabricated to order. Whenever possible, we start with an in-shop measurement so the fit is right the first time.
Bulk & Property Management
We work with contractors, property managers, and AOAOs across Maui on volume orders and ongoing service, scheduled directly through the shop.
Drop it off. Pick it up. Done.
We’re based right in Kahului, close to town’s main shopping areas — easy to swing by on your own schedule, no appointment window required.
On your schedule
Drop your screen or door off whenever it works for you, and pick it up the same way — no need to block off half a day waiting for someone to show up.
No long wait for an estimate
On-site repair services often need a scheduled visit before work can even start, and that slot can be weeks out. Bring it to the shop and we can usually take a look right away.
One screen or one hundred
A single repair doesn’t need to hit a minimum to be worth doing here, and we also take on larger contractor and property management orders — same shop, either way.

How a visit to the shop works
Bring it in
Whenever you can, bring the screen or door itself — it’s the fastest way to get an accurate answer.
We measure
We check the frame condition and measure to about 1/16 of an inch — precision is what makes a screen or door actually fit.
You get a price
Because condition and materials vary, we confirm final pricing in person rather than over the phone.
We build it right
Most fabrication happens in-house on equipment we’ve trusted for decades, cut precisely to the measurements we took.
